Why Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of the mouth and have completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children’s dental and orthodontic problems. Pediatric dentists know how to evaluate the proper positioning of teeth and jaw structures and evaluate the health of children’s teeth, gums and mouth.

At Encinitas Pediatric Dentistry our team has been trained to keep your child’s teeth healthy from infancy through adolescence. Our office is built for children and staffed with personnel who are not only trained to treat children, but thoroughly enjoy working with them. In addition, our office uses instruments and equipment made just for children to ensure their visit is a positive experience.

At each visit, our team will check to ensure your child’s oral development is on track and will make recommendations about the need for sealants, fluoride and other services based on your child’s specific dental circumstances.

Dental Services

Our office focuses on three areas of pediatric dentistry:

Preventative Oral Hygiene

This includes routine dental cleanings, the use of pit and fissure sealants, as well as instruction on proper brushing, flossing, eating habits and ideal fluoride levels. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment where children can learn about the importance of good dental hygiene.

Restorative Dentistry

This includes children’s fillings, crowns, prosthesis and treatment of nursing bottle decay. These procedures are performed with the most up-to-date techniques and state-of-the-art equipment, including laser treatment.

Emergency Treatment

While our goal is to prevent dental emergencies, we understand that urgent dental care is sometimes necessary. We know that dental emergencies can be a stressful experience for both parents and children and handle each situation promptly, with caring and compassion.
