  • Dr. Spencer Mauseth

    Dr. Spencer Mauseth is an American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certified pediatric dentist. He earned his doctor of dental surgery degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry and graduated cum laude. Dr. Spencer went on to complete his residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. While attending dental school, Dr. Spencer received numerous top honors and awards for ethics, patient care, clinical abilities and academia. Among these awards was the school’s top honor, the Dr. and Mrs. Philip J. Maschka award. He also became a member of the prestigious dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon after his graduation from dental school.

    Dr. Spencer is very active in the dental community and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He loves working with people, especially children, and is known for his commitment to teaching patients and their parents about the science and art of cavity prevention.

    In Dr. Spencer’s free time, he can be found spending time with his wife, Melodee and their five children. The Mauseth family enjoys running, reading, skiing and riding bikes.

  • Dr. Kristin Guptill

    Dr. Kristin Guptill always wanted to be a dentist. She loves her work! Dr. Guptill is a Jamaican native. She attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND on a track and academic scholarship, and graduated with BSc in Biology. After completing Dental School at the University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan, she also completed a GPR at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Next Dr. G worked in Public Health in Grand forks, ND for 4.5 years (locum at the Spirit Lake Reservation and Life Skills and Transition Center for ID and DD patients)

    As a Navy spouse, Dr. Guptill is part of our armed forces community. Her and her husband have 2 children, soon to be 3. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, trying new foods and keeping fit.

  • Dr. Avi Willis

    Dr Avi Willis is a specialist in pediatric dentistry. He received his DMD from Case Western Reserve’s School of Dental Medicine where he was awarded the top awards in pediatric dentistry and endodontics. Dr Avi completed a General Practice Residency at Jacobi Medical Center, a NYC trauma one hospital located in the Bronx. Whilst there, he received comprehensive training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, trauma, and treating children with special needs at the famous Rose F. Kennedy Center. He went on to complete his pediatric dental residency at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. Prior to moving to Southern California, Dr Avi was on staff at Jersey Shore Medical Center and an adjunct clinical instructor of Pediatric Dentistry at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry.

    Dr Avi spent 5 years studying physics in the UK prior to dental school. He earned a first-class degree at the University of St Andrews and then a Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge.

    Dr Avi is passionate about giving back to the community. He has volunteered time at the Greater Cleveland Medical Clinic as well as in Ohio elementary schools through the Healthy Smiles Sealant Program. In addition to local efforts, he has participated in an international dental mission in Israel, treating the children of Jerusalem.

    As a second-generation pediatric dentist, it was through his mom that he saw the need for better oral care and the importance of prevention. He believes that every child is unique and that pediatric dentists can have a major impact on a child’s life.

    In Dr Avi’s free time, he can be found spending time with his wife, Yonit, and baby, Ronen. He also enjoys skiing, cycling, playing the bagpipes, and spending time in Southern California’s beautiful parks and beaches.

  • Dr. Tom Berchtold

    Dr. Berchtold attended Utah State University from 1995-1998. He was commissioned as an Ensign, United States Navy through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in January of 1998. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University from 1998-2002 where he graduated magna cum laude and earned his D.D.S. He was inducted as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies upon graduation.

    After graduation from dental school he attended an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics for three years of advanced training. There he served as the Chief Resident for the Department during his last year of residency. He received a Masters Degree in Clinical Dentistry as well as a Certificate in Orthodontics. After residency, he was stationed at a 13 area dental clinic at Naval Dental Center Camp Pendleton (NDC CPEN). He set up the inaugural orthodontic practice at Camp Pendleton and served as the orthodontic department head and the command orthodontic consultant among other command level collateral duties. From NDC CPEN he received orders to Naval Medical Center San Diego. He was assigned to Naval Base San Diego Branch Health Clinic. He was chosen as the assistant department head at Naval Base San Diego Branch Health and Dental Clinic in charge of the dental clinic, the 123 personnel and its $23M renovation.

    His next orders at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton started in April 2015 where he was selected and served as the Director of Dental Services and served on the board of directors for the hospital until his transfer to Naval Hospital Yokosuka in July 2017. At Naval Hospital Yokosuka, he was appointed as Associate Director for Dental Services, the command Dental Corp Career Development Board manager as well as working as a staff orthodontist. He received his board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics in 2019 during this time. From Japan, he was stationed at the Naval Medical Readiness Training Command San Diego as a member of the craniofacial team for the hospital and worked as an orthodontist to supplement the surgical treatment of patients for the oral surgery residency.

    Dr. Berchtold has been married for 26 years and has four children. Miranda, Jentry, Tate and Riley. His oldest is married and will attend graduate school this summer and his youngest is still in elementary school. He enjoys road bicycling, golfing, swimming, fitness, and eating good food and a little well known fact is that he has completed 5 half ironman triathlons and 3 marathons.

    With this new transition, we are excited to announce and introduce the addition of Dr. Berchtold to the practice. He loves the interaction with patients and parents that orthodontics provides and is passionate about creating a beautiful smile for you and your family.
